About Care Packages for a Seminary Girl
A seminary year is the first time most of these girls have lived away from home, and the dorm kitchen is generally a kettle and a microwave. A package that arrives addressed to her, in a building where post is rare, does a disproportionate amount of good — and it is the thing parents abroad most often want and least often manage to arrange.
Send what keeps and what can be shared with a room: nosh, cookies, chocolate, cake for a birthday. Flowers work for a Friday. A Shabbos meal is the one to send when she is staying in seminary for Shabbos rather than going out. Check the store's kashrut against the seminary's, and set the delivery date at checkout.
What people usually send
- A nosh and chocolate package for the dorm room
- A birthday cake with her name, sent to seminary
- Flowers delivered on a Friday
- Shabbos food for a Shabbos she is staying in
