About Kiddush Platters and Catering in Israel
A kiddush after davening is how most Israeli families mark a birth, a bar mitzvah, an aufruf or a yahrzeit, and it is almost always catered from outside. The order has to be at the shul before Shabbos, which in practice means a Friday delivery and no second chances — the thing people most often get wrong when arranging it from another time zone.
What goes on the table is fairly settled: herring and dips, cake and miniatures, nosh for the children, drinks. You can send one piece of that or sponsor the whole thing. Check the store's kashrut on its page before ordering, because a shul kiddush is the clearest case where the supervision has to satisfy everyone in the room.
